Seawork
2007 - 10th Anniversary 12th - 14th June |
|
Seawork 2007 What is quite special about this impressive commercial marine exhibition is the 'forum' sessions on the latest hot topics of the marine trade world, the events and demonstrations, the networking and not forgetting the unique RIBwork trail.
A clearly identifiable logo is attached to those exhibitor stands who build ribs and provide products and services to the rib market. As was inevitable the long established 'big boys', the likes of Delta, Avon Inflatables (Professional Division), Ribcraft and Hamilton Jet UK were well represented. Several new rib exhibitors appeared and it was interesting to see Parker Ribs, Flatacraft, Red Bay Boats (who were presented with their recently acquired ISO 9001 Certification at the show), YellowJet Taxi and surprisingly Hunton Powerboats. Martin Payne of Hunton explained, ".. I've been surprised by the number of enquiries from commercial operators who want the practicalities of the onboard heads when used as patrol boats working long hours away from base". |
Among the most innovative rib craft on the water were the two rib water taxis brought along by David Farmer from Torpoint, Cornwall. Powered by an inboard VW diesel and driven by a matched up Hamilton Jet, his whole focus was on providing a safe and economical mooring and harbour taxi which would give a good payback in the shortest possible time. Ullman suspension seats were abundant on many exhibited ribs, and other supporting products consisted of equipment exhibitors Gecko Headgear, RibShop, Marine AV, Icom and a new rib protection product, Corrosion Block, a water displacement compound reputed to kill corrosion on contact! Developed from the aviation industry it has been extensively tested by those well known Solent based Sea Start ribs, (the AA of the sea). Power units were on the rather large and heavy side, from Scania, Caterpillar, Cummins and others, as you would expect for commercial ships although Suzuki and Yamaha and Barrus had representation. Yamaha who are perhaps best known as the world's largest producer of outboards also has an extensive range of stern drive diesels. View our Photo Gallery for pictures from the show. |
