Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland have all seen a rapid growth in sales for Suzuki Marine outboard engines. As new products have been added to its 4-stroke range, Suzuki has expanded its dealership network across Europe as the number and range of boat builders choosing Suzuki has increased. With the introduction of four stylish new models for 2006 (DF175, DF150, DF25, DF2.5), Suzuki are very optimistic that their market share in the marine sector will follow the trend of 2005 and continue to increase substantially throughout 2006. Suzuki currently supplies 1 in 5 outboards in Sweden and with the introduction of four stylish new models for 2006 (DF175, DF150, DF25, DF2.5), Suzuki are very optimistic that their market share in the marine sector will follow the trend of 2005 and continue to increase substantially throughout 2006. Marine Business Unit Manager Lasse Johansson commented, "2005 has been a fantastic year for Suzuki Marine in Sweden. We have developed new business with boat builders and importers as well as increasing our business with our established dealers. We've also had a very successful year with Rocadboats, Grand Rib and Prestige - this has meant that we've really grown in the Swedish market over the past 18 months." In Norway, Suzuki distributor Erling Sande has also developed contacts with boat builders. Their successful growth looks set to continue following the recent acqusitionacquisition of a 30% stake in Ibiza Boats, the Norwegian prestige sportsboat builder. |
Added to the exclusive distribution of Bever, Morgan, Capelli and Beneteau outboard powered boats, Erling Sande is making its mark on the Norwegian market .- selling some one thousand Suzuki-powered boats on top of their additional wholesale business. However, the other Scandinavian
territories are not to be outdone - Suzuki International Europe (Finland) has
recently introduced Beneteau
powerboats to Finland, which are already selling strongly through
their dealer network. Johs. Thornam in Denmark has also been busy as the importer and distributor for Jeanneau powerboats. They believe that the popularity of these boats has been a major factor in the success they have had in increasing market share in Denmark and are particularly happy with the quick expansion they have experienced in the large hp sector. Masa Shimizu, Head of European Marine Marketing, Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan, adds, "Suzuki market share has grown rapidly over the last two years in Scandinavia, leading us to make ambitious plans for 2006 and onwards. We are very pleased at the growing popularity of our outboards and we will continue to develop engines that live up to our reputation for producing the Ultimate 4-stroke outboards." February 2006 |
