Rubson Raid Turquoise
The RIB Gumball Rally is under starters orders!

The countdown has begun!
The fifth Rubson Raid Turquoise (2005) is under starter’s orders in the sun-drenched setting of Brazil’s magical Copacabana Bay. Competitors will board the boats on 23 November for 7 days of competitions and trials before arriving at the foot of Sugar Loaf mountain on 29 November.

The final organisational preparations are well underway and spirits are high among the 17 teams taking part in the race. This year, no less than 7 nationalities will be represented, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Morocco, the Caribbean, Italy, Portugal and Corsica.

As announced, the competitors have been provided with brand new boats. The hull and the configuration have been adapted by Capelli engineers in light of comments from previous events. The engine for this Brazilian RRT is the all new Yamaha F250. This four-stroke 250hp outboard is the latest and currently Yamaha’s most powerful outboard, already renowned for its legendary power and reliability. The very best Capelli and Yamaha engineers will be on hand to provide technical assistance for the boats.

With regard to the race, this year’s challenging course is directed by Manu Bertin and his team. Long speed trials alternate with shorter runs and orienteering trials among the 350 islands that make up the Costa Verde. A range of events will take place every day, covering all disciplines, with the classification subject to change right up to the very last day. The programme includes speed trials, sea orienteering courses, land trials and a Super Jet trial.

An exciting new development this year is the introduction of a dual classification system: a pilot classification based on the pilots’ performance in the pure speed trials and a general team classification based on the total scores for all stages.

Once again, the emphasis is on safety and adherence to the race rules, penalties will be tough and the judges’ decision is final!

The Raid will be broadcast on Eurosport, the dates for the broadcasting are:
23 December 11.30 ~ 12.00
26 December 24.00 ~ 00.30
