In response to demand Scorpion RIBs have announced the re-launch of their 8.1m stepped hull design and the introduction of two brand new Scorpion stepped hull models. An 8.5m model and the largest in their range a new Scorpion 10m.

The 8.1m model powered by a Mercury 225hp with the standard leisure layout achieved 54 knots straight out the box. Whilst the 8.5m stepped hull model with extreme tapered tubes (usually reserved for race boats) and fitted with the Yamaha 300hp hpdi V-MAX outboard managed a respectable 58 knots.

Once the engines are run in, and with tweaking, more speed can be achieved.

The 8.5m model also has extra customization including a lower console, power steering and water ballast tank.

The Scorpion team are very excited by the re-launch of their stepped hulls and currently have an 8.1m as a demonstration boat. This model will be on demo at RIBex
(Cowes, Isle of Wight), 3-4 June 05.
