The Mic Randle Memorial Award 2004
First nomination sponsored by MEEMA and BMF

Mic Randle

For many years the personal watercraft industry within the UK Marine Engine and Equipment Manufactures Association, (MEEMA*) has worked in conjunction with the Royal Yachting Association and national safety organisations to deliver a successful package of participant and owner training to ensure proficiency and safe, responsible use.

Although predominantly industry led this could not have happened without the efforts of individuals who have constantly given their time and effort.
One such person was Mic Randle who, with his business Waterwise of Swansea, actively supported the sport, the industry and Wales as a true ambassador.

Following his tragic death in June 2003 his many friends felt that the work he so enthusiastically carried out should be remembered through an award which would commemorate those qualities which Mic held so dearly to his heart.

This annual Award is intended for the individual meeting the highest levels of on-water training whilst instilling a feeling of mutual respect for other water users.

The first recipient of the Mic Randle Memorial Award is Peter White, RYA Powerboat Trainer of Seafever International Ltd., Sussex for his outstanding personal achievements in this area.

Mrs. Val Randle, Mic's widow presented the award during the 2004 London Boat Show.

Responding to the award Peter White commented, "I am deeply honoured to receive this award. Mic had an attitude towards fun and excitement that was perfectly balanced by an awareness of the importance of safety and an unrivalled duty of care. I will endevour to maintain his ideals".
