The New FTB60 and HPDI-Z250 engines on test at the Southampton boat show

Yamaha maintains its power technology lead by delivering a new High-Thrust 60hp four-stroke, the FT60B (as shown, left) with immediate dealer availability.

Unveilled for the first time at this year's Southampton Show, this new engine is designed to push non-planing heavy boats most commonly found in rivers and canals, as well as some coastal craft. The Yamaha four-stroke line now gives thirteen High-Thrust engines, and as with all Yamaha outboard units they are designed as 100% marine engines, not adaptations of existing, older land based products from other markets.
Also new for 2003 is the low-emission two-stroke HPDI Z250hp which has been sea-trialled at the Southampton Show. High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) is a result of in-house R&D by Yamaha's own dedicated technical and engineering teams. Yamaha was the first to turn direct injection theory into outboard working practice.

These outboards have proved to be the most reliable, practical and user friendly direct injection two-strokes in the world. An excellent power-to-weight ratio and aggressive acceleration complete the typical characteristics.
