It was remarkable to learn that during the fifties it
was seriously proposed to knock down the old fortress walls to make
way for a new road for the town.

A campaign to change the decision was successful only
because several of the town's homes had been constructed into and used
the walls as part of their inherent structure.

Taverns, restaurants and coffee shops can be found along
and adjacent to the main road through the town. Being a small town all
its conveniencies are placed near to where they may be required!
